Building resilience to negative emotions (Part 1) / When you notice negative feelings within yourself, learn to acknowledge and admit these emotions. For instance, you can say, 'I have noticed that I felt discontent' or 'I have noticed that there is a sense of restlessness within myself'. / You do not have to hastily vent or rid yourself of these emotions; instead, allow them to exist temporarily. You can pause awhile, take a step back, observe these emotions from a distance like an onlooker, the emotions will gradually fade with time. / You can imagine your emotions as waves in the big sea, while you lie on a secure inflatable floating bed, gently drifting along with the emotional waves without resisting them. / If the emotional waves become tumultuous, focus on your breath. This can help you return to a calm state. / Direct your attention to your each exhalation and inhalation at the moment, deeply and slowly inhale... exhale... inhale... exhale...
