How to manage negative emotions?
Acceptance of negative emotions / We have all experienced setbacks which affect our emotions, and thinking that we would not be unhappy without these occurrences. / In fact, our values and perspectives will make us have certain kinds of emotions, more importantly they will affect our acceptance of the emotions we have. / For instance, if you were repeatedly taught from a young age that 'good children should not be angry with others', making you firmly believe that 'anger is unacceptable'. / When you encounter situations which typically evoke anger in most people, you might habitually suppress or deny your own feelings of anger, leading to guilt and self-blame. / Increasing the ability to tolerate negative emotions is not about suppressing or indulging in them; rather, it involves learning to patiently tolerate yourself for having these emotions temporarily, and refraining yourself from impulsive reactions before fully understanding the situation.
